Last
Night
Celebration
!
Blue Hill had a great celebration of Last Night in 2007 and welcoming
2008. Musicians, magicians, actors, dancers and puppeteers performed non-stop
from 7:00 PM to Midnight to ring out the old year and ring in the new.
The village was alive like no-other winter night, with people of all ages
crisscrossing 10 inches of new fallen snow to hear folk singers, orchestra,
radio theater, rock and more. Highlights for 2007 included:
- The fire station was bursting at the seams with garage rock bands
and platters of free food and hot chocolate
- Noel Stookey packed the Congregational Church to standing room only
as he debuted songs from his new CD
- Steel drum bands played non-stop in the GSA cafeteria with a throng
of dancers and revelers
- Spirited performances were given by the Brooklin Community Band ad
the Blue Hill Community Orchestra
- Latin rhythms and songs were performed by Bill Schubeck, Bea Blake
and Co. and Miguel Reinoso
- Many wonderful small venues exuding warmth on a wintry night
- A thronging mass dancing to the eclectic music of Living Daylights
and funk master Tim Semler - bringing in what may be a funky new year.
- Many others this reporter wanted to see.
